Arch pain is common, usually caused by overuse or inflammation of the plantar fascia (a long ligament on the bottom of the foot). This condition is common among runners and is also known as plantar fasciitis. Symptoms include pain or stiffness and is sometimes associated with a heel spur. Unsupportive shoes, weight gain or injury can cause arch pain. If pain persists, making an appointment with a foot and ankle specialist is recommended.
Heel Pain (Plantar Fasciitis)
Heel pain is frequently caused by plantar fasciitis, Heel pain may be due to other causes, such as a stress fracture, tendonitis, arthritis, nerve pain or, not often, a cyst.
Because there are several potential causes, it is important to have heel pain accurately diagnosed. A Foot and Ankle Surgeon can distinguish between all the possibilities and to determine the underlying source of your heel pain.
