DR. HAMMAD ZAFAR

Dr. Zafar is a Fellow with American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Rearfoot & Ankle Surgery. Born in Pakistan, Dr. Zafar moved to the United States at an early age and has been blessed to call Arizona his home since then. He attended Mesquite High School in Gilbert, AZ and during his high school years he became interested in foot and ankle surgery after seeing many specialists for his own foot and ankle issues. After high school, Dr. Zafar attended Arizona State University where along with completing the required pre-medicine classes for medical schools, he was also able to complete a degree in Bachelor of Arts in History and minor in Small Business.

After graduating from Arizona State University in 2010, Dr. Zafar accepted admission into Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ and completed his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2015. While at Midwestern, he was honored to accept multiple awards and scholarships including Samuel Mason Pioneering Service Award, Distinguished Student Award, Arizona School APMSA Student of Year Award, multiple AzPMSA Scholarships, and the APMA Educational Foundation Scholarship. He was also privileged to serve as the class speaker at the combined graduation ceremony for Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine and Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, Class of 2015.

After graduating from Midwestern University, Dr. Zafar chose to pursue his residency training at Kaiser Permanente Hospitals in Santa Clara, Fremont, and San Leandro, California. During his residency training, he was exposed to a large clinical and surgical volume with comprehensive training in management of both inpatient and outpatient foot and ankle pathology. Dr. Zafar received extensive training in adult and pediatric reconstructive foot and ankle surgery; evaluation and management of ankle, rearfoot and forefoot trauma; and complete preoperative and postoperative evaluations of elective foot and ankle surgery. He also served as the Chief Resident during his last year of training at Kaiser Permanente. One of Dr. Zafar’s favorite experiences in residency training included a mission trip to Da Nang, Vietnam where he and his colleagues had the opportunity to help the underserved population of this region.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Zafar loves to spend time with his wife. He and his wife love to travel and explore different areas of the world. Dr. Zafar also enjoys learning and discussing history with friends and family, one of his favorite trips included a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. He is also an enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Phoenix Suns, and Chelsea Football Club. Dr. Zafar loves to discuss sports at any opportunity he has and also enjoys playing basketball and cricket with friends.
