Foot drop is an abnormality of one’s foot that is categorized by the inability to lift or flex the front part of the foot. This condition happens when there is nerve damage, muscle weakness or a spinal cord injury. Patients with this condition experience gait issues, drag their toes or bend their knees higher just to prevent their foot from dragging. Often caused by nerve/muscle disorders or damage to the central nervous system disorder. Foot drop is usually diagnosed through a physical examination, additional testing may follow. Treatment may include use of braces, physical therapy. In some cases, surgery may be required.

- Loss of sensation/numbness
- Loss of balance
- Loss of muscle mass
